European Project “N@tworkingGens” (2009 – 2011)

Von August 2009 bis September 2011 war arthefact e.V. Teil des EU-Projektes “N@tworking Gens – Exploring the Social Networks”. Es ging um Strukturen und Funktionsweisen der sogenannten “sozialen Netzwerke” im Internet. Was ist ihr Potential als Kommunikations- und Darstellungsmittel?

From august 2009 to september 2011, arthefact e.V. was part of the European project “N@tworkingGens – Exploring the Social Networks”. Focussed on functioning and structures of so called “social networks” in internet. How is their potential as tool for communication and presentation?

Feb. 10th 2009 – press release from the European Commission: “Today in Luxembourg, 17 operators of social networks, including Facebook, StudiVZ, MySpace, Yahoo!Europe, Google/YouTube and Microsoft Europe, signed an agreement concerning the legal protection for children and young persons on their websites. This agreement was initiated by the European Commission.”

Die große Verbreitung des Internets ermöglicht schon Kindern Zugang zu Netzwerken mit sehr unterschieldlichen Zielen und Spielräumen. Die Nutzung dieser Netzwerke gibt die Möglichkeit, in Kontakt zu bleiben oder Netzwerke mit alten und neuen Freunden aufzubauen, die über die ganze Welt verstreut sind. In diesem Sinne erlauben es neue und innovative Technologien auch, immer mehr, immer schneller, immer verschiedenere Netzwerke aufzubauen. Dieses Phänomen, als “Social Networks” oder Web 2.0 bezeichnet, bringt Vorteile, aber auch Nachteile mit sich, die heute noch wenig bekannt sind, da sie bisher nicht ausreichend untersucht und erforscht wurden.

Das Projekt “N@tworkingGens – Exploring the Social Networks” möchte hier einen ersten Kanal zur Kommunikation zwischen der jungen Generation (digitale Eingeborene) und den Erwachsenen (digitale Immigranten) (Lehrer, Erzieher, Eltern) öffnen um sich darüber auszutauschen, wie Social Networks unsere Kommunikationswege verändern und welche Auswirkungen dies auch auf Erziehung und Bildung hat – sowohl in Bezug auf Familie als auch auf Schulen. Und ebenso, wie man das erzieherische Potential von Sozialen Netwerken auf bestem Weg erforschen kann.

Beteiligt sind neben arthefact e.V. Partner aus Italien, Bulgarien, der Türkei.

The widespread diffusion of the Internet caused the youngest boys and girls, the possibility to easily access the Network with very different aims and scopes in mind. A very important facet, which is today increasing at fast rate, is the use of the Internet done in order to keep in tough or to network with old and new friends, dislocated all over the world. In this sense, new and innovative technologies permitting the construction of these networks of people are increasing in numbers and kinds. This phenomenon called “Social Networks” or Web 2.0 brings with it advantages and disadvantages nowadays still not well known because not well researched and explored enough.

Particularly, this project wishes to open a first communication channel between the young generations (digital native) and the adult ones (digital immigrants) (teachers, operators, parents) on how the Social Networks are changing our way of communication and on what are the educational implications that today this all brings with it both in the family and in the school and how the educational potential of Social Networks could be exploited in the best ways.

The partnership involves, beside arthefact e.V., Italy, Bulgaria and Turkey.
